This movie was heartfelt journey into the underworld of talented but troubled legendary pro surfer Philip Andrew Irons aka Andy. Refreshingly honest and open, brother Bruce Irons, pours his heart out to reflect and enlighten the audience, provideing a glimpse into the real world of the 3 time world champ. From their home life, to growing up as rebellious kids, the highs of top level performance surfing and the shadowy elements that were lurking over this Hawaiian legend.
We often look up to the elite, and think, i wish that was me, i was i was that good.. i’d give anything to be world champ. But would you…. honestly. Would you give your mind to mental illness, to bi-polar... slip into drug addiction?
It's the fine line between utter brilliance and terrible tragedy, all tied together with mind blowing surfing, which reminds us of what a talent he was. It also reminds us to hold onto the good things in life, enjoy the moment, and be there for your family and friends.
The word for the movie… HEAVY!
Heavy waves, heavy hearts, heavy water, heavy weight of expectation, heavy hitter… HEAVY!
Anyone that surfs, and loves a gritty true story, should watch this film.
